Eligible Employees: Employees who have worked for their employer for at least 12 months, have worked at least 1,250 hours during that time, and work at a location where the company employs 50 or more employees within 75 miles.
Covered Employers: Private-sector employers with 50 or more employees for at least 20 workweeks in the current or preceding calendar year, as well as all public agencies and all public and private elementary and secondary schools.
Qualifying Reasons for FMLA Leave: The birth of a child and to care for the newborn child, the placement of a child for adoption or foster care, to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition, the employee's own serious health condition, and certain qualifying exigencies arising out of the fact that the employee's spouse, son, daughter, or parent is a covered military member on 'covered active duty.'
