Feudal societies are hierarchical systems that existed in Europe and other parts of the world during the Middle Ages, where land owned by nobility was held in exchange for service or labor provided by lower classes. In these societies, power was decentralized, with local lords managing their own territories but owing allegiance to a monarch.
