European Convention on Human Rights

Definition

The European Convention on Human Rights is an international treaty to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms in Europe. It was drafted in 1950 by the then newly formed Council of Europe and establishes the right to a fair trial, freedom from torture and discrimination, among others.
