Trachea

Definition

The trachea, commonly known as the windpipe, is a tube that provides a passage for air to enter and exit the lungs. It is located in the neck, extending from the larynx to divide into two bronchi at its lower end.

Larynx: A structure at the top of the trachea containing vocal cords, it acts as a gateway for air and prevents food and drink from entering the airway.
