Definition

The pectoral girdle, also known as the shoulder girdle, comprises the clavicles (collarbones) and scapulae (shoulder blades) that connect the upper limb to the axial skeleton. It provides attachment points for numerous muscles and allows for a wide range of motion in the shoulder.
