Definition

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a peptide hormone produced and released by the parathyroid glands, playing a crucial role in regulating calcium levels in the blood. It increases calcium levels by stimulating bone resorption, increasing intestinal calcium absorption, and promoting kidney reabsorption of calcium.
