Definition

A keloid is a type of scar that develops where the skin has healed after an injury, characterized by an overgrowth of dense fibrous tissue that extends beyond the original wound boundaries. It appears as a raised, often large and irregularly shaped, area on the skin that is usually pink or red in color.
