Human history is a story of constant movement as people move to settle all corners of the Earth. There are always reasons why people leave their homes (push factors) and reasons why they choose to go to another place (pull factors). As people migrate, they typically follow Ravenstein's generalizations which describe trends in migrations for distance traveled, demographics of the migrants, and more. In the last 500 years, migrations have been especially peaked because improved transportation.
