Definition

An echo chamber in the context of social media and the internet is a situation where beliefs are amplified or reinforced by communication and repetition inside a closed system, often resulting in misinformation and polarization. It limits exposure to diverse perspectives, leading to an increasingly fragmented society where groups do not have access to a shared set of facts.
