The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) was a civil rights organization founded in 1942 that aimed to fight against racial discrimination and segregation in the United States. CORE played a significant role in organizing nonviolent protests, sit-ins, freedom rides, and other direct actions to challenge racial inequality.
