The Zapatista Rebellion, also known as the Zapatista uprising, began on January 1, 1994, in Mexicoโs southern state of Chiapas. It was led by the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) and aimed to address issues of indigenous rights, land reform, and opposition to neoliberal globalization, making it a significant example of resistance to globalization after 1900.
