Excessive rewards refer to the practice of providing overly generous incentives or reinforcements for certain behaviors. This can lead to ethical concerns as it may undermine intrinsic motivation and create a dependency on external rewards.
Intrinsic motivation refers to engaging in an activity for its inherent satisfaction or personal fulfillment.
The overjustification effect occurs when extrinsic rewards (such as excessive rewards) decrease intrinsic motivation.
Reinforcement refers to any event that strengthens or increases the likelihood of a behavior occurring again in the future.
